The agrobiological station serves as an educational and experimental base for conducting classes and field practices for students. It also provides resources for GASU teachers, postgraduate students, and scientific researchers supplying the relevant university departments with natural hand-out and demonstration materials.
The agrobiological station covers an area of 38,6 hectares and includes the following sectors:
The content, focus, and scope of work for each sector are determined by the curricula and research plans of the corresponding departments: plant growing, agrochemistry and plant protection, botany, phytophysiology, as well as characteristics of agricultural production.
TREE NURSERY (ARBORETUM)
The GASU arboretum occupies a territory of 2,5 hectares. In the center of the area, there are two large alleys: the birch alley and the oak alley.
In the 4 sectors of the nursery – Altai, European, Far Eastern, and North American – more than 100 species of trees, gymnosperms, flowering shrubs, and twin plants grow. They encompass 46 genera, 21 families, and 2 groups: gymnosperms and angiosperms.
The arboretum also hosts about 300 species of natural flora and more than 50 species of decorative flowering plants.
